Midjourney has a bunch of parameters, which you can explore in detail on their documentation page. Most of these parameters revolve around technical aspects, such as aspect ratio and upscaler choice, or the aesthetic components of the model, like model versions, rendering quality, and the intensity of Midjourney’s default style.
But I find the –tile parameter fun to mess around with, and it’s super easy to use.
The –tile parameter allows you to create seamless patterns that are perfect for sprucing up wallpapers or fabrics. It generates images that, when placed side by side, blend together flawlessly along their edges.
Take a gander at the image above. You’ll notice that the top edge can be smoothly connected with the bottom, and the same goes for the left and right sides. When you put multiple duplications of the same image side by side, the result looks something like this:
Note:
–tile is available for v1, v2, v3 and v5, but not for v4
Feel free to experiment and create seamless patterns with a variety of themes. For instance:
You might have spotted in the last two images that when there are noticeable vertical or horizontal lines in the tile image, the final side-by-side image doesn’t look quite as “seamless.” So, keep that in mind. However, if you’re going for a deliberate style choice, like designing a fabric pattern, then maybe that’s just what you want!
Have fun playing around with it!
